This Policy is part of our Terms of Use and applies to everyone who lists items on Tanoooki. Listing a prohibited item may result in removal of the listing, penalties, or account suspension or termination, as described in our Seller Terms.

If you're not sure whether something can be listed, contact us at legal@tanoooki.com before listing it.

1. Counterfeits, Bootlegs, and Unauthorized Reproductions

You may not list:

  • Counterfeit or bootleg items — unauthorized copies or reproductions of another creator's specific, protected design, including resin, vinyl, or 3D-printed reproductions of copyrighted figures made without the original artist's or brand's permission.
  • Items misrepresented as authentic or licensed when they aren't (e.g., an unlicensed figure described as an "official" release).
  • Unauthorized reproductions of packaging, box art, or authentication materials, including fake certificates of authenticity, fake hologram stickers, or reproduction boxes sold to pass an item off as complete/original when it isn't.

This doesn't prohibit original designer toys that are inspired by or riff on existing characters or franchises — that's a normal part of the art toy genre. What's prohibited is passing off an unauthorized copy of someone else's specific protected work as an original, licensed, or authentic piece. See our Seller Terms for more on this distinction.

2. Trading Cards and Grading

You may not list:

  • Proxy or fake trading cards (reproductions of real TCG cards not produced by the original publisher), unless clearly and unmistakably marked as a proxy/custom in both the title and photos, and not misrepresented as a genuine card.
  • Cards in fake or tampered grading slabs, including counterfeit PSA/BGS/CGC (or similar) slabs, or genuine slabs that have been altered, resealed, or paired with a different card than the one originally graded.
  • Altered or doctored cards (trimmed, recolored, or repaired) sold without clear disclosure of the alteration.

3. Recalled and Unsafe Items

You may not list:

  • Items subject to an active government or manufacturer safety recall in the buyer's or seller's country.
  • Items that fail applicable product safety or content standards for the markets they'll ship to (for example, restrictions on lead, phthalates, or other regulated substances in children's products).
  • Items with known safety defects (exposed wiring, choking hazards not disclosed as required, etc.) without clear, prominent disclosure.

4. Weapons and Weapon-Like Items

You may not list:

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, or firearm parts, real or replica, including airsoft and BB items that aren't clearly marketed and legal as toys/collectibles in the relevant jurisdictions.
  • Knives, blades, or bladed collectibles restricted or banned in the buyer's or seller's location (some collectible items, like certain letter openers or display swords, are commonly restricted — check local law before listing).
  • Any item designed or marketed primarily to cause harm, even if styled as a "toy" or "collectible."

5. Age-Restricted and Regulated Items

You may not list:

  • Alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, cannabis, or drug paraphernalia.
  • Prescription or controlled medications and supplements.
  • Sexually explicit material, or items whose primary purpose is sexual (not merely suggestive or risqué in style, which some designer toys and idol/anime-adjacent figures are — those remain allowed).
  • Gambling-related items where prohibited by law.

6. Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Items

You may not list any item you don't have the legal right to sell, including stolen goods or items obtained through fraud. Sellers are responsible for confirming they have clear title to items they list.

7. Items We Don't Allow at All

Regardless of category, you may not list:

  • Live animals or animal parts from protected or endangered species.
  • Hazardous materials (chemicals, batteries outside safe shipping requirements, etc.) that can't be lawfully shipped.
  • Personal or financial information (e.g., data, account credentials, gift cards obtained fraudulently).
  • Human remains or body parts.
  • Items whose sale itself violates the law in the seller's or buyer's location.

8. Cross-Border and Import/Export Restrictions

Because Tanoooki supports cross-border and international shipping, some items that are legal to own and sell domestically may be restricted from import or export in the buyer's country (certain toy materials, weapon-adjacent items, and licensed character goods are common examples). Sellers are responsible for knowing and complying with the customs and import/export rules of the countries their items ship to and from, as described in our Seller Terms.

9. Reporting a Prohibited Item

If you come across a listing that you believe violates this Policy, use the report form found on the product page. We'll review reports and take appropriate action, which may include removing the listing, warning the seller, or suspending the account for repeat or serious violations.

10. Enforcement

Violating this Policy may result in listing removal, loss of payout for the affected item, account penalties, or suspension or termination of your account, as described in our Seller Terms and Terms of Use. Serious or repeated violations (like listing counterfeit goods or stolen property) may result in immediate account termination and, where required, reporting to relevant authorities or rights holders.

This Policy may be updated from time to time as we identify new categories of concern specific to the designer toy and collectibles market.
